Kings Place celebrates 10 year anniversary with refurbishment of Battlebridge space

October 2018 marks not only the 10 year anniversary of Green & Fortune but also of our first venue Kings Place and the significant events business which is Kings Place Events. To mark our first decade we refurbished one of the most popular spaces, the canalside Battlebridge Room.

Since opening its doors ten years ago Kings Place Events has welcomed over 400,000 delegates to the venue for a range of events from conferences and meetings to receptions and weddings. The venue is home to 11 event spaces, with capacity to accommodate 400 delegates in one space, including two auditoriums, an art gallery, two private dining rooms and a bar and restaurant, alongside a selection of smaller meeting rooms.

Our Chief Executive John Nugent comments “We’re very proud of the refurbished spaces and it was the perfect way to mark the ten year milestone. As the first significant development in the regeneration of King’s Cross it’s amazing to see how the area has changed. Ten years ago, we had to ‘sell’ the area to corporate clients considering to hold their events in King’s Cross, now it’s one of London’s up and coming areas, home to a number of internationally recognised organisations.”

Following an intense period of refurbishment over the summer, the Battlebridge Room, has now reopened. This canal-side room features a private, covered terrace and with a capacity of up to 350 standing or 200 seated and is the perfect multipurpose space for a range of events from meetings, product launches, weddings, summer and Christmas parties.

Working with the room’s existing bright and spacious qualities, new features have been brought into the space to make it softer and more appealing for a wide range of clients and events. The front of the room has been opened up and now includes a discreet cloakroom and a large welcoming registration area with two purpose built registration desks. A new 75” digital screen behind the reception desks can be used to display a company logo.

A new bar is a significant feature and focal point and can be used as a traditional bar or an eye-catching catering point for any event. The bar and wall panels feature copper fret cut metal panelling which brings a warmth and texture to the room. This copper finish is echoed in the column lights which incorporate the colour changing LED lighting which can be programmed to a variety of colours and settings to match brand colours or the style of a particular event. Two 75” screens are built into the feature walls and can be used for digital signage or presentations.

Carpet in the far section of the room has been replaced with timber flooring to give a more sophisticated finish to this part of the space, which is frequently used for presentations.  This flooring also makes for a great dance floor, eliminating the need for separate flooring to be brought in.
