Green & Fortune showcase a career in hospitality to school children

Over the last month Green & Fortune have supported two engaging sessions designed to get young people excited about the various roles across the hospitality industry. Primary and Secondary students had the chance to get out of the classroom and visit two iconic venues; Central Hall Westminster and Sea Containers. Our teams engaged with school children who were able to have go at different jobs and get a first-hand look at what it’s like to work in our sector.

Our partner Central Hall Westminster united with Yes Futures as part of an event to mark World of Work Day. Green & Fortune gave primary school children from Horsham a chance to learn all about cakes and baking. Our on-site bakers Rachel and Lily put on an interactive cupcake decorating session which went down a treat!

In June, another group of young people from Islington’s Beacon High School headed to the Southbank for a sushi making masterclass at our Sea Containers venue. Our chefs, Elize and Phil, showcased Japanese cuisine by explaining the principles of sushi making, how to prepare the ingredients and master the art of sushi rolling. This was organised through Green & Fortune’s membership of Urban Partners, an organisation who work to improve the lives of people working and living in the Camden and Islington areas.

Yes Futures is a national education charity which empower young people and help develop skills to prepare them for the future. Through the World of Work day initiate they create opportunities for young people to visit inspiring places of work to get a better understanding of working life and realise their potential.
