Sea Containers Events, housed in the iconic South Bank located Sea Containers building, launched its six event spaces to the world 1 year ago.
The venue marked the occasion with a 1st birthday party on the evening of 14th March, welcoming over 200 guests to one of its most popular event spaces, Cucumber which boasts stunning views of some of London’s most iconic buildings.
Since opening its doors to commercial events, the venue has hosted over 200 individual events, the most popular types of events being Christmas parties, drinks receptions and naturally, summer parties hosted on the venue’s 14th floor Roof Terrace.
Over the last year Sea Containers Events has attracted a wide range of clients from varying industries such as legal, construction, retail and tech, however it’s proved most popular with the media and financial industries. Clients who have held events in the first year of operations include Chanel, Sainsbury’s Food & Drink Awards, Eve Sleep and Hong Kong Tourism Board, who also attended the 1st birthday event.
Attendees of the event were treated to a tongue-in-cheek take on a 1st birthday party with a DJ, magician and glitter face painting all in attendance, along with a party bag including bubbles, retro sweets and a home-made cocktail given to all attendees as they left for the evening.
Food and drink for the evening included a rum punch bar, poké station, canapés such as, ginger and garlic prawn with wasabi and citrus dipping sauce and bowl food such as, salt chilli chicken with paprika potato, rocket and Korean mayonnaise as well as an enormous a birthday cake made by the in-house baker.
Sea Containers Events offers six spaces capable of hosting numbers from 10 to 150 for dinner, cocktail receptions for 250 or larger hires for up to 600 guests. Spaces include a design-led amphitheatre for up to 200 participants, a private dining room with balcony overlooking St. Paul’s Cathedral and a roof terrace for up to 200 guests. The 12th floor includes a large blank canvas space, featuring show-stopping views and a private balcony overlooking the Thames, which can also be divided into four smaller spaces to boast greater flexibility.
